How about the issue w/ the lack of Can signal? and Bluetooth? [m]
When some one, any one gets it to work. I will be right behind them getting the part to make it work in my S4. But only after I know it will work ok. Same with the Bluetooth. People have been working on this setup for a while now.

2001 cars have CAN in the instrument cluster. But I think a TMC/CAN gateway is still needed. . .
I have my Nav+ connected via TMC/CAN gateway to my 2001.5 instrument cluster. Works well. Get directions in the center display.

I too was looking to get the RNS-E to work in my 2000 S4. I remember there was a lot of debate to get the right CAN and if it would work with the S4 because of a lack of the right signal in the S4.
As far as the VIN requirement for the DVD base maps, I remember people were using a specific VIN because Navteq will not sell it to people with out it.
When you get yours to work please let us know, I for one am very interested in this setup.
