Took my S4 (and the spouse) on a vacation/road trip to Orlando FL last week, just over 2200 miles. Man, what a great car for crusing... 100 mph is way too easy. Averaged 24.1 mpg despite my heavy right foot.
Did orlando to houston (999.3 miles) monday in just under 13 hours only stopping for fuel and pit stops. Car never missed a beat. Excellent seats.
Passing? : ) Having all that power underfoot really made the trip enjoyable while dealing with obstinate left lane squatters. Most folks were very courteous and moved over when they saw me coming or after a flash to ask them to move over.
I saw ONE Audi the whole trip; an older 100. I was loafing, he was breathing hard to keep up based on what looked like lots of downshifting. He tried his darndest to keep pace but soon fell behind in traffic.
Btw, Louisiana roads suck... 45 mph speed limit on I-10 in the middle of nowhere! Sheesh.
Need to send Mike Valentine a thank you note for making the V1. FL state troopers are EVERYWHERE!
donp - '00 S4 Silver/Silver

I'm planning a shorter trip (Chicago to Carbondale, IL - about 350 miles) in a month or so. After moving from a much larger road-boat (Olds 88) I was concerned how the relatively firmer S4 would be on the long-haul. I'm definitely looking forward to opening it up a little on the highway...
---
