Rotor vibrations -- ECS Tuning 2-Piece, Floating, Replica Rotor Kit

from the description it appears to be a combination of pad material & heat, which then
"builds upon itself" causing roughness and vibrations.
from the pictures that ryoung posted and the description in the link you posted, this doesn't seem to be the heat checkering, which seemed more "uniform" across the rotor surface and more distinct cracks, while your rotors had this in much more concentrated areas.
of course, i'm no expert, and either way, ECS should step up to the plate. 6 mos & 6,500 miles is not that long for a rotor.

Actually, I wrote to ECS complaining about this on 7 Feb 05...
I asked them for help in diagnosing the problem. They ignored my email. At that time I had only three months and 3,000 miles on the rotors.
Ryoung's photos show a much more advanced stage. The cracking isn't usually uniform. From my experience, it tends to concentrate around the stress points (drilling and slots) and where the heat is the highest. It starts out as very small cracks which cannot be seen and increases from there.
It isn't associated with the pad transfer that you can get when you overheat the pads. That also can cause vibrations and changes in the surface but it is different.
At least that is my understanding.

This first pic is how the rotors looked after one weekend, ...
... probably about 200 total miles on track at Mid-Ohio. The heat checkering was very uniform across the surface of the rotor with no obvious stress points. The rotor finally cracked thru to the perimeter (again at Mid-Ohio) after two years and another 4 or 5 weekends on track (~25k total miles, 1000-1200 on track). The rotor felt normal until the very end, when it felt severely warped.
BTW: After 55k total miles and ~2700 on track, I just destroyed my 2nd set of rotors (they were all Alcons), and it was Mid-Ohio again. They went thru the same process ... mild heat checkering the first day on track, and a crack to the perimeter (though not as bad) after ~25k total miles, 1500 on track.

Which seems quite reasonable for rotors. I think you got your life out of them...
I would pretty much expect to see the rate of use that you had with that type of use. If anything, I think you did pretty well.
But in my case, only 3000 miles before this started to happen and they've never been on a track.
So I'm not pleased.
