Can anyone clear up the rumors versus facts or educated expectations on the 2001 S4? I've heard everything from some significant power increases and some body style changes a la the new A4 to just a few new colors and ESP. Is it pure speculation at this point?

I was seriously considering a 330Ci (avail in a couple of months)or waiting for the new M3, but the S4 is a truely remarkable combination of power, subtle style, and terrific interior. I sat in the 328Ci and then went straight over to the Audi dealer and sat in the S4 for 10 or 15 minutes (yes I drove it earlier). The S4 feels terrific inside. I currently have a 99 MB CLK. Nice car, but much more on the sophisticated clean touring side. My soul calls out for an S4. Besides the demand is still so strong for my CLK that I can sell it now for practically the original MSRP.

Sorry to ramble, but I've been lurking for some time and this is my first post. I am leaning strongly towards buying a 2001 S4. The M3 is tempting, but I suspect it will be comfortably over $50K. That doesn't feel right for this kind of car.
