The S4 is too nice of a car to leave at the Metro station, IMO. You should get a beater.

computer says 19.2 for me, i usually get 18mpg doing the math at the pump

You should change your air filter if it is dirty or old it will hurt ur MPG.

Default Threadjack: STFA, but what brand of gas you guys like?

(dealer told me to use Amoco(BP) or Mobil?

just curious (i dont track, only mods are exhaust/suspension, stock turbos)

Default ALL gas brands are the same. they come from a few refineries then all go into the same pipelines!!

they put in some other crap to differentiate their "brand" at the terminals before it gets trucked to your pump.

these are things like "cleaning" additives, and believe it or not, coloring.

Default And what method do *you* use to calculate?

Average over just that tank; over multiple tanks? Do you just figure in your head the number of miles traveled since last fillup against how much [fuel] you put in? Do you use averages?

How you (one) calculates fuel economy can be as flawed (or more) as the vehicle's computer. Just because someone says they calculate their own mileage doesn't mean that it's more accurate.

FWIW, I've done a month-long comparison (5 tanks) and the trip computer was a mere .2 of a gallon over the calculated average.
