Default Do you want a sample space of individual experiences or the truth?

All cars these days are "generally reliable" but the chances of you having 100,000 problem free miles is approaching zero for the S4.

The same would not be true, say, of a Toyota Camry.

Default minor things...

secondary water pump failure
cam seal leak
torn CV boot (probably my fault)

everything covered under warranty.

Default Mine has never left me stranded, but has spent 50+ days in shop in 1st 14k miles...

Highlights: 2 RMS plus several other engine gaskets (thus 2 total drivetrain R&Rs), 4 visits for water leaks (powdery residue on A pillar and C pillar covers), CEL's, ABS sensor misalignments, driver's side front seat frame (to cure the "rocking chair" symptom, and a phantom (so they say) oil pressure warning light that they can't seem to eliminate. I bought mine new, and would say that the bugs are just about worked out now (I pray this is the case). I can't imagine owning one that isn't under warranty. Also a good dealer is KEY; mine is well intentioned but a bit short on actual ability (in my experience).

Good luck and welcome to the club; it's an awesome car when it is running properly! I still love the car - but am beginning to hate AoA's dealer network/customer service attitude and my dealers service dept.

Default Generally agree; but we are enthusiasts with a critical eye - will always bitch about the bad stuff

and sometimes fail to praise the good stuff. It's easy to exaggerate within such a forum; but there is most always some element of truth in the problems we have - see Mike(01S4) "piggie"'s signature link to see the common problems with our cars - a lot of truth there!

This is an oft-quoted fact - what is the source?

Speaking from experience and speaking for others as well. Both roids and S4's.
