S4 is gone
Thanks for being a great resource guys.
Painful to trade her in but it was time. Just picked up my GTI thursday. Will be going Giac on this one.

The weird stuff
- on the turnpike i lose 99% steering. i manage to pull over without crashing and am towed to dealer. turns out that the steering fluid hose (metal) was rubbing against a platic bumper part. Over the course of its life, the metal hose wore thin and all my steering fluid leaked out! Fixed under warranty but it could have ended badly.
- The metal bracket that the tranny cable goes thru cracks by itself. 1st symptom is the automatic shifter gate does not crisply engage each gear P R N D 3 2. 1st diagnosed as stretched cable wire. as they look closely the bracket is cracked. Fixed under warranty
The regular stuff
- Both front cv boots not covered under warranty
- Wood trim on drivers door cracks by itself with door closing and opening
- Sunroof sticking
- weird noise coming from AC vents *whistling
- 17" Avus rims are very prone to bending. had to fix 3 in 2 yrs.
- two flats as recently as 2 months
- Leaking valve stems which made me put in air every other day
