My experiences driving/sitting in them gives me the feeling that the A4 seat can be more upright than the S4 seat. Maybe the sport seat is too bolstered to be as upright?

Not starting to attack anyone, just a question, if anyone noticed the same thing.

Yup, I noticed that too, I want it to be more upright.

Can't even get near upright as lack of headroom forces semi-reclined position.

I noticed the same thing. S4 seat doesn't adjust nearly as much upright as non power A4 seat.
