But you are not saying what you put in. New/used/brand/installed properly?
Plastic Bosch DVs work. Whatever expensive metal ones you bought may have the wrong springs or be dirty and sticking or not sealing all the way, etc.
Did the car work fine before chipping/DVs?
If this is the stuff that you changed and the car is screwed up than I would focus on what you changed.

But if they are not broken they work and don't require adjustment or cleaning
They might not last in a chipped car, but if they were working I might swap them back in to see if his new DVs are part of hte problem.
