Also I have a friend who wrecked his S4 2000 same year as mine not sure about the production date, How difficult is it to take that TC out and swap it in mine? Is it even worth it the other car has 140k miles.

if his TC is in working order and he gives you a decent price then it will buy you some time.

The physical size of the 2000-20002 torque converters are the same size. The differance lies within the seal. An upgraded seal was introduced some where in the middle of the year range. I had one with a shot seal rebuilt for $550. They modified for a bit higher stall speed, replaced the lockup clutch material with better material (apparently) and also replaced the seal with an upgraded seal. Not sure if this means OEM upgraded or some custom aftermarket solution.

Sorry for not seeing this thread sooner.

So I got the codes cleared and then drove around for an hour. I pulled the codes again and these codes are gone.
P1176 O2 Correction Behind Catalyst,B1 Limit Attained
P1177 O2 Correction Behind Catalyst,B2 Limit Attained

P1296 Cooling System Malfunction 17704

Im not sure if they could come up again but I am pretty sure my cats are good and the guy at autozone said one of those codes could be a result of filling up gas and forgetting to turn off the car when doing so.

So if they are gone, you have no codes now? If so that is why we clear/reset and pull again! Keep an eye on it, it would be weird for both O2 in the rear to be reading funny. If you have filled up with the car running you are introducing a vacuum leak to the car, so I can see how these might be related.

Nice follow up BTW.
