Default negative. same block, thats why the wrx is better for serious power.

the cylinder walls are much thicker.

Default All reports I've seen say the STi has a stiffer/reinforced block over the WRX. They are NOT the

exact same.

"Though based on the Subaru Impreza, the WRX STi has been massaged, retooled, reinforced and reengineered to be nothing like an econobox.

Start with the engine. With 300hp and 300 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2.5-liter boxer four gets a stiffer block, forged alloy pistons, forged steel connecting rods, and even special reinforcing ribs in the block itself. All of this is meant to stabilize a motor that has to withstand almost three times the power output of the stock engine."

Default obviously they arent the "same" one is .5 bigger.

it had to be reinforced so the cylinder walls wouldnt blow out. but the blocks are the same.

Default Bored to a 2.5L is pretty aggressive, the cyl walls get mighty thin, also given they will float...

a bit too much. Better to get a 2.2L closed block, bore to 2.35 and stroke the little weasel.

MAD POWAH!
