S4 Wait Time

FYI
I tell everyone this when asked about wait times. If you are in for a long drive (who isn't in this car), there are several S4s on the lot at THE COLLECTION in Miami, FL. Don't know what you are looking for but they have several colors with all options but NAV system and Cold Weather package (don't need it much down here). If you consider getting it here, ask for Steve Collier.

Re: S4 Wait Time
It is dependent on how particular you are on your options. You may get it right away or in 6 months. When I started looking for the Nogaro/OnyxBlue with all of the options I was told I would be lucky to pick it up in May 2000. But I started to go through the Internet auto dealers who then in turn referred me to my local dealer who found the car in 2 days and delivered it within a month. The funny thing is that it was the same dealership that gave me the 6 months waiting period. So if you really want it, you can get it fairly quickly.
Hope this helps.

I highly doubt the S4 will appear in the new body style so soon.
Don’t try to wait for the next model because you will end up waiting your whole life. I know, I was always concerned about the next model, but it seems as if there is always something newer and better all the time. So you always want the next best thing. When you are ready to get it, then there is something even better and newer. I am telling you, it is a vicious circle. For the past 2 years my mind was set on the e46 M3, and I was willing to wait, but then BMW started saying that in the following year they might release a special 400hp V8, which means that it will be better then the I6.

Regarding the new body and the S4.
A few of us on this board heard from a very good source that the S4's will continue in the current body style for a year or two even after the new A4 has been released. Just like BMW did with the 3 series coupe and M3.

No V8 in M3. . . from BMW
The V8 will be offered by Alpina and the local rep says it should be out about a half-year after the E46 M3. The hood bulge in the M3 concept car that was at the IAA and Detroit motor show was to package BMW's 5.0L v8. Whoopie!
