Since this information mysteriously disappears on the wheel forum that is sponsored, I thought I would share it with you here to try to cut down on some of my emails from you fine people asking the question:
"What does Tire Rack have that fits the S4?"

One of our managers just had his S4 delivered on Friday so our wheel engineers had the chance to confirm the fitments, and sadly, this is it. Test fits have been done, and those are the only ones that will work.
As for winter snow wheels, we had been told that steel wheels we had would clear, and they do not, so if you are thinking about downsizing for winter, the 16" alloys are your options.
Take a look & give me a call, # once again...800.428.8355, ext 369.
Thanks as always!

Did you check the fitament of various tire sizes? For example, can you put 235/40 R17 on the stock wheels? If you go to a bigger wheel (ie. 17x8 or 18x8.5) what tire sizes will work? I know there are fitment problems with wheels because of the S4 brakes, but I believe there are also fitment issues for tires because of the proximity of the suspension components and maybe body molding (given body roll). Finally, I noticed the wheels you listed have many different offsets, what is the offset on the stock wheels? And what are the consequences of going to a wheel with a different offset (greater or less)? Any advice would be appreciated!

Tirerack is a great place, but there are many wheel brands that it doesn't carry. Oettinger, Avant Garde, Racing Hart, Antera, just to name a few. It's still too early to tell. Wait till next spring. I'll bet you'll have more options than you think.
