Default S4Biturbo post on Audi/MTM cooperation

Anyone else see this post from S4Biturbo email group? Any other news on this?! It would be very cool if Audi could cooperate with a vendor to bring a performance ECU to market that wouldn't invalidate warranty. Of course Perry's email doesn't specifically id ECUs...

Scott,
I chose the MTM for two reasons, one, Joe Hoppen is one of my favorite
people and I really think that they have great products. two, Audi and
MTM
are slated to announce that MTM products will be available with complete

Audi warranty coverage when installed at an authorized MTM or Audi
dealer.
The announcement should be forthcoming in the early spring..

Default Met and talked to Perry over the weekend. ECU's were definitely implied.

I'll still believe it when I see it. ;-) The price will definitely increase though, I'm pretty sure he also mentioned that...

Default Audi would benefit highly from this

The number of chips they would sell (given warranty coverage of the chips) would be more than enough to offset the cost of messed up turbos.

They would surely pull in much more of the enthusiast market and command the respect that Audi deserves in this arena.

Default back when...

Back when I was first looking for an A4 (late '96) I routinely talked to a guy in NZ. This is an excerpt of one of our emails discussing mods for the A4 1.8t.

Don't know how accurate (or true) this stuff was but this "cooperation" has been rumored to be around for years and years.

I doubt we'll ever see anything state-side thanks to the EPA. For Audi to offer that stuff they'd probably have to re-certify engines... I seriously doubt they'll do that.

>MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) are an aftermarket tuner down the road from Audi

>2- 210hp - this is an engine computer change and a new 2 1/2 inch stainless
> exhaust system NZ$9000
>3- 286hp - only available installed in Germany, includes engine computer
