Default the saga of my blown turbo continues.

After getting the run around from my dealer, AoA and the Audi Customer Advocates, for over a week. They finally have decided "out of good will" to pay for 70% of all costs. Now I know that is better than 0%, but just their attitudes about the situation really pissed me off.

Yeah, that's a good way for BigLew to pick up "his 30%" w/o paying 30%.

Default No offense, but is there a reason why they SHOULD pay for 100% if you're chipped? Did they

find a defect which is completely unrelated to running the turbos outside their intended(from the factory) PR?

Default Well, Audi/KKK did revise the design of the turbos in fall 2000...

...so argubly, there was something wrong with the turbos as initially designed. Sounds like both sides have a case for the reason for failure in that kind of situation.

Plus in the US market, the precats are located closer to the turbochargers exposing the turbos to even more heat than they see in the climatalogically cooler Euro market for which the turbos were originally developed.

Default Yes, but running the turbo's harder isn't going to help control the heat. Operating

outside the design intent is never going to increase longevity. You 2000 guys are going to have to show a statistically significant difference in failure rates for pre-revised turbos and perhaps for cars operating in different ambient conditions. Then show that there is NO significant difference in the likelihood of failure for chipped vehicles versus non-chipped. I'm usually never on Audi's side, I think their cust. service sucks, their dealers suck, and their quality control is crap...but I just don't think I'd get all bent out of shape because a part I modified broke.

Default Wow, thats weird... Total BS, if you ask me...

They shouldn't have paid a dime of it...

You modded your car and it broke, why should they pay for anything? Any other manufacturer would've laughed you out of the dealership.

Default Personally, I don't really think chipping the car causes problems. It just exposes weaknesses...

...which then contribute to turbo failures.

Default Well...uh...ok, yes. Do I think the S4 should have come with a decent set of turbos..yes, but

it didn't, so we take the risk. I mean hell I could put a 400hp nitrous kit on it that just exposes the weakness of the crank, block, rods too. I know what you mean, but if we take the risk, we pay the consequences.
