Default Samco TBB sitting too high

My other post disappeared. Anyway, having lots of problems after installing Samco TBB and Forge BPV. Checked installation many times. The ONLY glaring complication is that the SAMCO TBB holds that top sensor (air/turbo?) on the wrong angle (too high). It makes installing the plastic engine cover VERY HARD. In fact, it probably pushes down on the sensor.

As I have a loss of power after the mods, and the BPV are working correctly (not jammed), I am looking at the TBB.

It was suggested that the SAMCO TBB can hold the sensor too high and thus put pressure on the sensor causing some sort of difficulty. I guess its positional as the sensor may be pushed to one side or another inside the TBB.

DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE.

I have a 2002 S4 (auto) (and had big smirk on face until yesterday. Any suggestions about the TBB, the sensor, and alternatives to SAMCO.

Thanks

Default Does it run right with the sensor properly installed and no cover?

You may have somehow damaged the sensor. As I recall, that sensor is surrounded by or connected to the support bracket, how can you have play in it? Mine just pops in and is held by a clamp on the TBB, there isn't room for play. Could you be leaking boost at the entry point?

Put the original TBB back on, no need to change it unless it's torn. AMS TBB possibly..

Default Beg to differ on that one...

...boots can start out with a small tear with 'hardly' any immediate noticable lose of power and then tear so gradully that it can become a very stealth lose of power. I know, it happened to me. My take is, if there is a preventive fix for a high percentage problem area, take care of it. Especially if your chipped.

Yeah, maybe I should take a closer look at mine. Original TBB from 5/00 build. =)

Always a good idea... or at least stay accutely aware of the potential for tears.

Default Re: Does it run right with the sensor properly installed and no cover?

I am starting to think I got a bum SAMCO boot from Stratmosphere. Where the turbo sensor attaches to the boot is not cut on an angle like the stock TBB, so the sensor sits high (and on wrong angle). Additionally, the right (when facing the nose) TBB port to the intercooler tube is not cut on the correct angle. The cut is skewed. This leads to a "potential" area for an air gap. I had to really CRAM the ICTube in there to alleviate the gap. All in all, not thrilled with the SAMCO fit and finish and it does not just fit right.

It is the same part (as the one on the 2001) so maybe (in SAMCO defense) the 2002 S4 is a little different in the layout.

Will try to put back on stock boot this weekend and keep ya posted.

Any thoughts on the ECU throttle reset process...it is worth it or necessary. Additionally, what are the chances that something in the 2002 is actually different from the 2001?

Thanks
