Default San Diego sighting of an S3!...look like a melted A4 at first...

Never seen one of these before and didn't realize what it was until it passed by and I saw the two doors and the hatch. Nice looking car.

The tailpipes were twins and came out of the car just off center. The S badge gave is away.

Anyone know who this is or how they got it state side?

Default You sure it didn't have Mexico plates on it?

They have them down there...and since San Diego is so close, it's wouldn't be a stretch to see one down there.

There is one floating around up in the Princeton NJ area. That one has Mexico plates on it too...quite a long way from home, but we're still slap happy to see it around here! :-)

Default Maybe...didn't get a good look...

Thing is most of the Mexico plates in SD are from Baja and they are all yellow - they stand out. Pretty sure I didn't see any yellow.

Probably a pretty good explanation though.

Default I've seen an S3 with Baja plates

There are a few cars in Mexico that they get and we don't. I'm sure the S3 is one of them. I've also seen plenty of marks are brands we just don't get anyone.

The old one are yellow and black. They have a green and white, I think, Baja plate and a custom plate with a precolombian design that reminds me of the gecko/desert looking plates some zonies have.

Default I lived in Mexico and the S3 is very popular small perf car

not as popular as the old VW bugs tho. Seats (from Spain) are also available and they make a cheaper alternative to the S3: Leon cupra R (210HP 270TQ all-wheel drive, brembos, 18", recaros) Here an S3 will get you a nice lady, in mexico an S3 will get you kidnapped...

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/long_term_test/long_term_test_story.php?id=33779</a
