scraping sound coming from left front wheel on right turns

scraping sound coming from left front wheel on right turns
only audible with windows down in a quiet place like a parking garage and when turning right. Don't think it's quattro because it happens with little turning effort, before quattro should get out of sync. It's tied to wheel rotation and doesn't sound like the bad CV boots I've had on older GM cars. Any ideas?
