Default Scratches in clearcoat - easy to buff out or what?

As near as I can tell, I've just recently gotten some nasty looking scratches in my clearcoat due to the "foaming brush" at the self-service carwash I use (yeah, I know, wash it at home).

Anyway, how easy are these to buff out?

Not to hard if it isn't deep.

Default let us know...

i've tried many products that attempt to remove hairline (and other light) scratches, and they all seem to just cover up the scratches, rather than remove them. if you find something that works, and still looks good even as little as 2 weeks later, please let us know.

ps. no matter what, it will *never* look like new again -- trust me. this fear is the main reason it takes me ~3 hours to clean my car.

good luck

Default try www.liqui-tech.com

you only need the "finish prep" and the "finish first".
this stuff works wonders, i swear by it; its also approved by Ferrari, Porshe, and Bently clubs of America.

Default I hope it works because these scratches look like hell (more)

Whenever light, especially bright sunlight, strikes them, the scratch appears as a long thing white streak (I almost thought someone keyed the car). I don't think it goes down to the paint, but it seems like a fairly deep extremely thin scratch.

If you've had scratches like this and the Liqui-Tech stuff takes it out, that's great.

Default Depends how deep they are. If it's fairly minor, 3M Imperial Hand Glaze might work...

It took out all the fine swirl marks in my car (the tiny marks in the paint you can only see at certain angles)

Default Here's the stock answer...

Go here and read up a bit before you try anything. Good info that should guide you to the best solution. May not get rid of the scratch entirely but the info should help you determine the best course of action. You can even call them and ask specifically about your problem.

Just go to the How-To articles.

http://www.carcareonline.com/</a

Default ... and it lasted?

i've used imperial hand glaze many times, mostly on my old `95 90, and after a few weeks all of the hairline scratches would reappear. (and before you ask, yes, i applied wax after using the hand glaze).

It got rid of one slightly deeper scratch in particular, and it's been a few months.

I have the same problem on my brilliant black. Let me know if you do somehow get rid of them...
