Default I drove mine home from the track and it was very bad. I, myself, would NOT

What if it goes while on the freeway, or a narrow road where you can't pull off, etc. Just take care of it. The part is $65 and the dealer or an independent shop can do it with a special tool without removing the whole hub.

Default 10K miles

It was gone when I got the car. I was told by many people that it was just the tires (S-03s)...strange it was still there when I swapped to new tires...Found out I had been driving on it for 10K miles and it was REALLY shot-could have been bad but I wouldn't worry about not driving on it necessarily - just get it fixed asap.

Any idea what tool that is? Might be one we can find online, and it would certainly be a good thing.

Default The tool is:

You can get the tool from Harbor Freight. It's called the FWD Front Wheel Bearing Adapter, Item No. 45210. See the link below. The kit is pretty big and weighs on the order of 40 pounds. I used it last night, and it worked great. You need a socket somewhere around 32mm to drive the thing, and a really powerful impact wrench, say in the 450 to 600 foot pound range. You can rent/borrow an axle nut socket kit for free from Advanced Auto which has such a socket.

The bearing tool can also be found under the names: Hub Shark and the OTC Hub Tamer.

The race of the bearing sticks to the hub (at least on the car I was working on). This will cause you a real problem, unless you know a simple trick to get it off. See https://forums.audiworld.com/midatlantic/threads/10964.phtml#115972 for details.

Email me if you have any questions. I've learned a lot going through this process.

if you do drive, be gentle. Don't accelerate/corner hard and avoid going fast.

Default I drove on mine for thousands of miles...it's just annoying. I got it done when it became too much.

Now the other one is going...sigh.

Default Hmmm, I wonder how well that works...I'm thinking probably not very good. The

one form Zdmak tools or whatever. It's like $400, but my buddy at the dealer said there was a used one I could buy if I wanted. Would be interesting to see if that Harbor Freight one works.
