Hi,
Tripping to NYC for a few days next week and am looking for secure parking garage recommendations. Dunno exactly where I'm staying - could also be bunking in Hoboken - regardless, thought I'd read of a few thefts from garages and figured I'd get the 4-1-1 from my S4 brethren.

and tipped the guy $20 to park it off in a visible corner and told him I'd give him another $20 when I got back. Expensive, but I felt a little better while I was at my meeting.

Covered parking, park your car and take your keys. If you get there early enough there are some spots where there will be no cars next to you. It's opens at 5am and you need to get your car out before 1am. I think the price for a full day is $22. Best of all it's the fastest way to get out of the city. The exit ramp from the garage lets you out approx. 25 ft from the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel!

If you're going downtown, try the lot at
Water and Peck slip. It's an Edison lot (not
garage) that takes up a full block. Fenced.
Attended 24x7 by attendants who can see the
WHOLE lighted lot. Have left my car there
overnight without incident. If you're
staying for a bit, they'll often just
point you to a spot against the fence.
You can often pick a spot between an M3
and an AMG Benz whose owners you guess to
be thoughtful of your doors.
Easy walk to Wall Street. Right in midst of
South Street Seaport. Stay at the Best Western
Seaport Inne and get a good rate as well as
proximity to your car. Eat at Radio Mexico
as well as the various Italian places around
the South Street Seaport.

Go to Broadway just south of 8th St (right by the N,R, or 6 subways). The garage with the green sign is great (not the one with the downhill ramp). $26 for 24 hours I think, good valet service. Most cars are expensive there, so they take care of them. Also they're parked very wide from each other compared to most garages. 5 months every day for me without any problems.
