Shell gas mileage follow up. This topic came up at the beginning
of the month. Basically stating that switching away from Shell brand gas had improved gas mileage. I just finished off my second tank of Shell gas and thought I'd post the results.
Driving is to/from work about 15 miles each way, mixed 50mph hwy and in town, and a 3 mile drive mid-day to the gym.
Results:
1st tank - 360 mi/25.9 mpg
2nd tank - 348 mi/25.6 mpg
Those numbers are just as good as any other brand of gas I've recently used, which includes Citgo and Sunoco. That average is right around what I've seen all along with the car.
Conclusion: I'm highly skeptical that Shell gas was the cause of the mileage difference observed in the original post.

Original Post

Have you tried BP (Amoco)? I've had great results with BP. BP, Mobile and Sunoco are very common ..
in Michigan. They seem to have the nicest stations and get the highest amount of traffic flow.
I've never seen mileage that good in my car, but my commutes are 60% freeway, 20% stop and go and I believe is very good considering the driving routes.
Our car is very efficient at 50 mph without stopping. )
