I've reduced my choices to Tanoga or the UUC based on reading treads for my'01 S4Avant, but others discuss the Strato's w/ball bearings,Neuspeed best...
IF anyone has driving an NSX as well as a S4, which short shifter would you say is as smooth and as short a throw as in the NSX?.
Thanks, Dennis

shifter action ever made, and us S4 folks know that there is no magic short shifter to make the S4 shifter feel like your Honda Shifter.

have posted that they switched from other brands to the Tanoga and were happier with the Tanoga.

You ain't going to find a Japanese-feel tranny for the S4--unless, of course, you're willing to replace it. That said, I heard of one guy on AW that pulled out his tranny and did 'something' to it that supposedly significantly improved shifter action (??).
I was accustomed to driving Japanese cars with smooth, buttery and short-throw gear boxes/trannies. When I got the S, I was like, WTF!!! I went on a search for a short shifter kit that I thought would convert the S4 trans to a Japanese-like trans--I was 'delusional'...
I will note, however, that I did change out the gear oil to a mineral-based oil that Audi recommended (for ~10k miles and then switch back to synthetic). I don't know if it's the placebo-effect, but over time, shifting seemed to smooth out a bit (or perhaps I just got used to a notchy gear box). I've got the P/N for the oil somewhere if you want it).
