The soft setting will produce less oversteer

Default I tried both and prefer the hard setting

but keep in mind that it also reduces the "independence" of rear suspension

Try both and see which you prefer.

Default I 'll start with the soft setting...and see what happens...

what do most people have it at?

Mine's on soft, and honestly, I don't notice any difference. I would recommend starting on medium.
