Default Should I not bother getting an S4?

Hello, I'm looking at getting a S4 but I have a dilemma: I have to get it with Tiptronic. I don't want to waste space explaining why, but I just have to have it in automatic. So, this leads me to the fear (that the dealer instilled in me) that I have of the resale value on an automatic sports car. Am I not going to be able to get a decent value on this car in 5 years? Do you think I'll have a hard time selling it?

I *really* like the S4- it's uniqueness, the power, all the options... but should I just get a regular A4 2.8 with Tiptronic (it's only $5,000 less than the S4)? I just wouldn't have time to deal with trying to sell the S4 in a few years. Hm. Maybe I'll like the S4 so much I won't want to sell it...

Go get a Benz, buddy... they're all automatic, so the resale won't be an issue :-)

Default If you can afford the $5k for the S4 over the 2.8, get the S4, even with Tiptronic...

...you'll still have a blast and you won't want to sell it. Powerful automatics can be a lot of fun too. In 2-5 years, I don't think there will be any noticeable price differential between Tiptronics and manuals for the S4, esp. when you consider you don't have to pay any extra for the Tiptronic up front.

Default Wow, I didn't realize we were driving sport cars. Plenty of Tip owners on board. I don't think

resale value would make difference. Just preferance.

Yes most buyers would desire a 6 speed, but I would not worry about that. I just sold a 1.8TQ that was an Auto; it only took me 1-½ weeks to sell it. If it were not for track events I would go with a Tiptronic on the S4 that I have on order.
There are buyers out there that want a Auto.

I tried to turn the other cheek and not say anything, but the true voice of the forum has now spoken
