Default Should I be worried? Highway WOT run on way home, flashing CEL.....
I took off onto a highway from 2nd gear, nearly missed my shift into 3rd (bad I know) and when I went WOT in 3rd the CEL started flashing and the car hesitated (limp mode came to mind but I have honestly never felt limp mode before, never even seen my CEL before, ever). I let off and coasted in gear, CEL still flashing. Neutral, coasted down, cel flashing. Back into 2nd gear and accelerated (not WOT) and the CEL went away. Nothing out of the ordinary after that. Very strange.

find a VAG-COM and read the codes

Default sounds like your primary O2's shorting out on the firewall, check your fuses, can't remember #37?
should be "The ECU" fuse

flashing CEL is misfire. plugs, coilpack... usually thats the cause
