Default Silver to Gold, Alcon technology shining through at the track...

After another great ACNA event at the world famous Laguna Seca raceway I found myself staring at a pair of Alcon calipers that had taken the step from silver to gold...

I can't sing the praises of these brakes enough times, aside from being an employee of STaSIS Engineering. These brakes repeatedly handled hauling down an '01 Audi S4 Avant shod with 245 Toyo RA1 tires without batting an eyelash, so hard in fact that after one session the pads were on fire and creating quite the smoke show after pitting.

Laguna Seca is by far the hardest track on brakes that I have been on. The 996 GT3 _following_ suit for a full session can attest to how late you can take these brakes into a corner and how many times they can do this in a 20 minute session

I must applaud ACNA and specifically the Golden Gate Chapter for another great event. It is always a good time to see friends, eat good food, drink good drink and enjoy driving in a fun environment.

The freshly installed Motor Sport suspension 700/850 performed excellently, truly made the experience that much more enjoyable to have the control that driving at this level requires. Get out there and enjoy the up and coming track season!

Cheers,

Default Gorgeous picture. What pads are you running?

FWIW, We were taking brake temps at Willow the other weekend and saw temps a hair under 1,000 degrees. Ambient temps were in the low sixties.

Default SBS Pro-Track...

and I think for my next set of rotors I will jump over to the Ferodo DS2500 for street and DS3000 for track use. I was reaching the limit of the SBS Pro-Track at Laguna with these tires. At Thunder Hill they were perfect, at Laguna I was going through them quickly and getting them quite a bit hotter.

Was a fun time, you ever make it out to Laguna for track days?

Cheers,

Default Not familiar with that pad, but you da man.

Unfortunately I don't get to Laguna much due to the sound requirements. It makes it very difficult for small racing organizations to have events at Laguna. I've only had skippy time on that track.

Default Pro-Race works well if you keep them exceptionally warm...

and the straight at Laguna would likely let them cool too much with a 14" setup. Maybe on a 13" setup would they really be effective.

Cheers,
