Would an incomplete burn cause a misfire?

Default dirty plugs = weak spark = misfire

bad coilpack = weak or no spark = misfire
dead channel on ICM = weak or no spark = misfire

If anything, the timing issue you refer to would manifest itself as pinging or knocking, which is different from a misfire.
