Siren noise part II
I heard it again this morning (57 degrees outside, dead cold start). Again it went away once the oil warmed up.
Here are my latest observations: The pitch of the noise varies depending on the gear that I am in. Meaning, at 2,000 rpms the noise is a slightly higher pitch than at 2,000 in second gear, and then third.
I need help from those more mechanically inclined. I am beginning to wonder if this sound is actually coming from the turbines. When my turbos spool, regardless of the gear I am in, they give out the same pitch (or so it seems).
It is a siren sound and sounds like the .wav files that have been posted here before.

I *think* I noticed less noise after 1st oil change (put 0W30)
It's almost impossible to hear/distinguish now.
Not sure if it's the oil getting to them quicker OR perhaps more noise in the engine cause of the thin oil ??

Mine did from day 1 with 49 miles on car...
10,000 miles later it's still doing it. There's a guy that works for a local dealer and his does it too.
I'm not going to worry about, I like my car and I have not had any problems at all with.

What worries me is that it changes w/ time...
I didn't have it on my car for the first few months.
A few months ago I noticed it when the car was cold.
A few weeks ago I started noticing it occaionsally when just driving.
If nothing else it keeps this nagging fear that my turbos are going to go in the back of my mind.
Apparently my roommates car has recently started having the warm-up turbo whine with the replacement turbos. That one really scares me.
What concerns me is that the sound is different than a normal turbo whine. I'm used to the sound turbos make when using them while driving, but this is more like a useless whine that occurs under light engine loads (at least in my experience).
I hope it really is just a 'normal' thing with these turbos and not linked in any way to failures, but there is a terrible lack of real knowledge about the source of failures it seems.
