Default slightly OT: drove a 330i w/ ZHP today. I was not impressed.

Not even to fork over the 20G difference between my payoff and sticker on a new one. They also had 2 used ones, the cheapest of which was 39G. I drove that one. It was Imola Red, which I loved, but it had no sunroof, no Nav, and no heated seats. It was pretty bare bones- HK sound and bi-xenon was it for options.

The 235hp felt anemic, and it only has 220 torque thereabouts. Even against a stock S4 it would take a track situation to come out ahead.

Likes: crisp handling (esp turn-in), felt very tossable and light (at times twitchy though), nice engine sound (like E36 M3 but more muffled), alcantara steering wheel was sexy, shifter was super sexy smooth.

Dislikes: not enough power, not enough torque, not enough options, way overpriced.

Before I drove this car, I said if I had to ditch the S4, this would be the car I'd get. Not any more.

AND: our local dealer just bought in to Dinan's network, and they're going to do the S2 package on the car I drove.

S2 package: throttle body, software, intake
gains: 35 ish hp, dunno about torque (although the sales guy was just guessing, that sounds about right)
price: 8-10G on top of the sticker.

Uh, lemme see, a $55G 330i???? One word, no. This nut job also wants to do the Dinan supercharger package to the Imola 4.6is he's got on the lot. heh, good luck selling it.

I definately expected more from it....there's no way an M3 feels like that!

I haven't driven one, but I've been a passenger, and it's wicked fast.

You referring to an E46 M3? If so , it's definitely not wicked fast. :-P

Default a shame really that BMW feels they need to ....

pump up their price points to be higher than Audi but less then Benz.

you really get much more car from an Audi with less cash.

i was always annoyed that Audi offered things like Xenons and comfort packages as standard where BMW has them as very pricey options.

BMW's won't be in my future either.

Default not compared to some super hero statusing S4s, no....

but hell, on paper it's on par with 996. I like the fact that it's high strung, too.
