Default smog ? : failed smog (CO and HC reading are too high) what is HC?

seems like I'm running rich (im at +8% primary fuel) Just by leaning it out (primary fuel set to 0 and leaning out increasing load) "SHOULD" do the trick no? I'm running cats btw. TIA

Default Just went through the same thing. HC is hydrocarbons -- basically, unburned fuel.

Lean it out, retard the timing, new plugs. If you're in CA, though, they're supposed to do a manual timing check, so it needs to be set to spec.

Is there anyway for you to do some detail logs? (ECUx preferred) I am very interested to see what the timing, MAF,CF, and O2 readings are.

Default Make sure your cats are nice and hot before the test too. They chew up HC/CO at operating temps.

If you are missing @ idle your HC/CO #s are pretty much unstoppable.
