S4 / RS4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi S4 & RS4 produced from 1998-2002

So, brand names aside, we need 75w x 90 gl4/gl5 transmission fluid, yes? Any other requirements?

Default The RHD has no EP additives. It's a full-synthetic using diester base stock.

I don't know why they continue to advertise the GL6 rating. Maybe to get some of the HD truck/equipment market? Anyhow, due to careful molecular structure, it flows well and has superior EP properties without the EP additives (usually sulfur) that are worrysome. Our stock tranny fluid contains some sulfur: you can smell it in the stuff.

Nevertheless, had it in my tranny for about a year now. Shifts better than any S4 I've ever driven, including my Avant... which still has stock fluid in it. I have some waiting for it though =)
