So how bad is it to drive with low powersteering fluid and the pump making angry noises?

I just drove the 5 miles to work with useless stop at advanced for powerstearing fluid..
Had my boss grab me some from audi, filled it up, and all seems fine now?
did I do damage?

my old roommate had a car that leaked ps fluid like crazy. it would whine all the time to the point that we named the car the white whale. He eventually had some compression fittings on the lines replaced and everyhting works fine still. doesnt make whale noises anymore though =(
he drove around for about a year just filling up with fluid and letting it leak out. the PS fluid does get really really freakin hot on our cars, so having too little is not good for cooling im guessing, but i dont think you did any serious damage.

of course, where did the fluid go? Time to check your hoses and rack boots, hopefully just a hose crimp or something like that.
