So I am losing about a quart of oil every 3700 or so miles. Normal? I sta's and found both opinons,

dealer is going to check it here in a week or so, but it has happened several times that my oil light will come on a thousand miles or so before i go in for a 5k change. just wondering if there is a known issue or something specific i should have checked.

comes on. I don't have any significant usage between oil changes (but I have never gone 5k on the same oil). My oil has never strayed from outside the cross-hatched area on the dipstick; I use M1 0w-40 exclusively.

How the engine was broken in makes a big difference in how much oil you burn. Thats not a lot of oil to burn... its a lot for an well-broken-in S4, but the dealer's going to tell you its just fine.
It just means your rings didn't break in as well as they could've. I broke in the engine in both my S4's meticulously and never burned a drop in either. I did the same on the rebuild in the engine in my 911, a car that is notorious for burning oil. I don't burn a drop there, either.
