So I just realized, after all this RS4 stuff, I still have an f hose? Can I just get rid of it?

given that the foot print of the fan assembly is the same, the amount of real estate it takes up front or back is the same..
Are you saying that if low pressure area behind the IC is maximized that it would make no difference that you lost the space in front?
Also, why not run the fans all the time, drawing air through the IC..doesn't that negate the low pressure discussion? You're pulling are through the IC all the time?
I have IC Misters so putting a fan in front doesn't really work...

Curious why those who run RS4 Y-Pipe and stock for that matter, with no engine covers, don't take the mounting tabs off. It would look so much cleaner..

i don't know the specs on the fan, but could it push enough air through the IC's to equal what is going through at like 75mph?
I was just talking about the fact that usually you try make it so the air going through the IC has a place to go, so pressure doesn't build up behind it.

in the way. At that speed the air being funneled in by the IC shrouds will be on the order of 1000 CFM per side. They would be beneficial below that speed though, the fan should give the same airflow as the car moving 5-10 mph. That might alleviate some of the heat soak and keep the IC's at a lower temperature than they would otherwise, so once you start moving it doesn't take as long for them to cool off.
I personally don't think the benefit is worth the $, effort, and possible reduction in natural airflow, but in certain situations they should help out.
