Default So, I took my Dad (55yearold) to a AutoX driving school

It was a Birthday present to him - AutoX driving school with his son.

I think he enjoyed himself.
He's never had more than ~100-120HP in his little Geo/Corrola late 90s, Mazda Protege 90s, Volvo Wagon(81-90), Chevette (70s-80), Duster (pre 73)

And this was the 2nd time he's driven my car....the first time was when I got it =)

His only words were "Matt, this car is so fast!"
"I don't know about the other cars, but it seems to me that this is the fastest car out here"

<grin>

I think he had fun, it was interesting seeing him out of his element...He noted how much "stuff" I carry for racing, and all I could say is that "this is my boating" - They have had ~30+ft cabin crusiers since the early 80s

Default yeah - I don't think he realized what kind of car I really had, until

People were coming up to him and asking tons of questions about it.....and he had no clue. =)

Default Funny side note: I was checking my tire pressures prior to the event - and I decided to

check his tires while I had the gauge out.

and I find 3 CORDED tires on his late 90s "Geo Prism" branded Corrola.

And the tires on the drivers side were at 10lbs of pressure.

"Dad, this is really NOT good! I filled them up to 35lbs on each corner, but you NEED new tires NOW"

The funny part was that he gave me an excuse that sounded like ME when I was a teenager - giving him some lame excuse as to why I was not doing something I knew I was supposed to do =)

Default I wanna put my dad on the track in my car

he used to race stock cars 30 years ago or so. he drove my car once when i got it, but hes not really all about going fast on the streets these days (i dont blame him at ALL for that, im not either). I'd love to see him actually give the car a good run.

Default He may surprise you - my Dad is a leadfoot around town....I can't believe that he doesn't

get tickets.

My dad didn't realize how much he doesn't know about driving =)

...Seeing your Dad out of his element...

Priceless =)
