So if you run your car almost out of gas, and throw in some 100 octane, how many miles do you think

it takes to run the crappy gas out of the lines and get to the good gas? My guess is that if you get 20 mpg, and there is a quart in the lines it takes 5 miles (yeah, I am a math wiz). Think there is that much in the lines? Or does overflow gas let loose by the FPR recirculate back to the tank thus shortening the distance?

If 1/4 mile times are any indication, you'll notice the effects of 100 octane almost instantly.

I don't mean ECU adaptation, I mean physical fuel delivery.

Default That's what I mean too.

On a hot day I did a few runs on 93 octane gas and a 93 octane program (with the tank nearly empty). Then I put in a few gallons of 100 octane and did some more runs while still on the 93 octane program. The runs were much faster with the 100 octane gas than they were on the 93 octane gas (and the same programming).

Default Wow that is fast adaptation. I was wondering if I should wait awhile before I switch to the higher

octane programming. What I usually do is zero the tripometer and switch the program before I leave the pump and then drive easy for ahwile.

Default I would still give it a few miles. That's part of the reason why...

I did a few runs on 93 octane programming and 100 octane gas. Even though the car does seem to adapt quickly, it can't hurt to wait a few miles to ensure that 100 octane has made it all the way through the fueling system.

Default Just goes to show that the ECU is constantly battling detonation. It is going to be 116F tomorrow

and I needed all the help I could get to make power.

Yeah, the drag day was high 80s/low 90s and pretty humid. The 100 octane made a huge diff.
