Is this most likely a dying battery, or is it the alternator? Shouldn't the alternator be charging the battery while I'm driving? Since my battery is losing power while I'm driving, I'm concerned that it may more likely be the alternator that failed. How do diagnose this properly without wasting $$?

Default If it is an OE battery and over 3-4 years old it should be replaced anyway.

So a new battery wouldn't really be a waste of money. If it solves your problem then great, otherwise the alternator or charging circuit are somehow bad and it should just me taken to a mechanic.

Another option would be to borrow someones know working good battery.

OE battery is junk, IMHO 4-5 years life tops. Start there...

I don't think any battery lasts forever. 4-5 years is pretty good, IMO.

Just picked up a new battery at Sears. Crossing my fingers that it'll be the end of this issue.
