Default If their was a stage 3 kit for the RS6, then they would destroy us. Especially when they can be

chipped to 550hp and they are only 500lbs heavier than an s4. If you can build a 4 banger to push 450 reliable horsepower by not upgrading rods and rings, then i'll buy your statement. The larger engine's potential is more due to the displacement, but the car's potential is sometimes less do to weight. Thats when you have to figure HP and torque per pound. Its not a black and white scenario. Read about JDM engines blowing up due to being pushed too far. They are cheap and easy to mod, but it is all at a cost.

Default "If their was a stage 3 kit for the RS6". This is exactly my point:

why do you think there isn't such a kit? I'll guess (and it's only a guess) that it's because the RS6 is expensive, heavy, and relatively rare. These practical factors outweigh whatever theoretical advantages the V8 has over our V6.

Default A video to watch:

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1379244.phtml">Mark P and friend (sorry Mark)</a>

I'm not saying an S4 isn't a great car to drive: that's why I own one. Just that there are other cars out there which also demand respect.

Default I could post videos all day long of big block chevys running faster for less money..what does any of

it prove? Nothing.

No matter how much we like forced induction, there is NO replacement for discplacement. Twin turbo a big block!!!!!!!!! Now THAT is potential!!!!

Oh....what about the wonderfull DIESELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default I'm not saying that JDM doesn't have potential. I've seen some fast imports that are a relatively

cheap build. I am making the point that the power output capability of an engine is dependant on many factors, but displacement is huge factor. If you were to build a 450 hp 1.9l 4 cylinder and a 450 hp 2.7l v6 on stock internals, which one do you think would grenade first. Potential isn't necessarily the ability to get bolt on kits as much as the capability to extract to most out of an engine. Money and time are all factors. Anyone with enough money can build a fast car. If you have the money upgrade, then that isn't a factor as much as capability and time. If you install all forged internals on a 2.7t, gt28 turbo setup and RS4 instake parts, then you can have a semi reliable 600 awhp car. It won't run the fastest 1/4 mile in the world due to gearing, but their is alot more to judge a car on than a ~10 second straight line. Potential can be your own limiting factors, but that isn't the cars limitations. It's your own personal limitations.

Default wouldn't even consider as a daily driver - only for a track

even the new EVO X would be tough to trade in for. Checked it out at the dealer and the interior isn't there, but overall strides better then the old (more civilized).
