I'm ready to change the oil, and was wondering if anyone has tried the 5W-40 yet....Or should I just stick with the 0W-40 M1 I have been using since the car was new??

Since, I believe, the K04's have slightly bigger oil passages, if the 5W-40 wouldn't MAYBE be a better weight than the usual 0W-40. Just thinking "online".

This is Mobil's synthetic for diesel applications. Delvac 1 is a great oil; I've used it it my cars and racecar for many years (though I'm using M1 0w-40 now). For 18-wheelers using Delvac 1, Mobil's recommendation was oil changes at 100k miles and engine rebuilds at one million.
Still, I am thinking about changing oils, but to Mobil 1 Racing 0w-30.

At least on paper, the 5w-40 would contain less viscosity index improver than a 0w-40. Since a VI improver isn't really a lubricant, the 5w-40 contains a higher percentage of functional lubricant ... usually.

HOT here in Texas...and I have 70,000 miles now. I will use Mobil 1 SUV or Delvac 1 (same stuff) from now on..
Too thick?? NO! We used to think 10W-30 was a Thin "Winter Oil". 5w cold rate is good enough unless you can Shoot Caribou in the back yard.
