Default so will i be ridiculed...

if i get a tip S4, this oppourtunity has presented itself to me for just about an even trade with my current car. Yes i know i would prefer a stick but i dont think i should pass this deal up.

Default If you plan on using it for any serious driving I'd say skip the tip. if it's all commuting though

go for it.

Default if you want to do any kind of moding at all, you'll definately want a 6spd(m)

If you can deal with stock... then go for it... IMO the S4 feels "detached" in alot of ways, transmission, suspension, etc. getting a tip only makes it seem *more* like a luxury car and *less* like a "sport" model

Default I can say that I wouldn't trade my 6 speed for the nicest tip in the country.

I also agree with what EkSiPd says.

Default I have a tip S4....

It's nice in traffic and the tip function gives you a little more control under spirited driving...though when it comes to launching, a 6 speed is where its at with this car because brake torquing only goes so far and doing it too much will ruin your tranny. IMHO that is why the manual is so much faster vs the tip because of the launch...I know the gears are closer together on the manual too.

Keep looking. You'll find a 6 speed at a good price.

Default Yes, you will be...

but that shouldn't stop you. If you want a 6 speed, hold out and get a six speed. I think a lot of people that wanted a 6, and compromised with the SO and got a tip regretted it down the road. If a tip is what you want, then by all means, get it.

Default Yes, but I learned to live with it....

In my case, only got it to please the Mrs (and get her approval for the purchase...)

Do the tranny VAG upgrade, makes a lot of a difference...than the tip-chip.....

however, nothing gets closer to real driving than a stick......

Default so heres the deal

2001 S4 8k miles

this is a one time offer from a friend to get a loan so i can get the car now and then sell my car. this is going to be a commuter car much more so than racing car. i live in LA, mucho traffic and any racing id be interested in would not be in a straight line. i think thats silly.
