Default SOB!! installing ohlins, went to go pull out and my CV joint went. so pissed. (re edit of the ed)

so luke (s4gasm) and i spent just about an entire day trying to install new control arms and a set of fresh ohlins on my car yesterday. of course we were assuming best case scenerio, but of course got anything and everything but that.

between the two of us, we have quite a few hours when it comes to working on these specific cars and we both had never had a day of wrenching like this...ever. murphy law owned us, and needless to say, we're still not done.

i bought a complete febi bilstien control arm kit back in the spring from brian at avalon. after finally breaking open the boxes and comparing them side by side to the stocker, this is one hell of a kit that strongly recommend. just a night and day difference over the stockers.

all my stock control arms were completely blown. some had holes in the bushing that you could see straight through and all pivot points, you could move with ease. my car is going to feel like a planted new beast and i can't wait to actually put it to use. i highly suggest this kit.

also, picked up a new set of ohlins from stasis and everything just looks top notch. installation isn't as straight forward as we had planned and the instructions could use a lot more detail with updated pics.

back to the installation. every bolt we touched took about 45 mins to accomplish. seven year old steel uprights living two winters in vermont, on e in new york city, and one in colorado is bound to have a little rust, but i think the higher being just had it out for us yesterday. after completing a section of the car, i backed out of the garage and all was fine. then put the car in first and it didn't go anywhere and you could clearly hear the axle trying to spin. i tried again, and again got nothing excpet a lot of cursing.

our theory is that somehow the CV joint went or possibly just disconnected. i personally do not know anything when it comes to CV joints and just plan on buying a new one to install. is it possible that it could've just come loose or popped out of place? or does it really just need to be replaced?

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2677235.phtml</a

Default I just finished my CA's... It's just a lot of damned work.

nothing super hard, other than getting good torque on the lower inner CA bolts.

I had a couple which were bad, a couple not so good, and then some which were ok.

Default yes, total PITA. all mine were toast. pivot points moving with complete ease and

some of the bushing you could see completely though. completely pissed about my luck with the CV joint though. s4gams and i had a murphy law kind of day, and of course this could only happen to my car.
