Default Some insurance adjuster's will allow you to do what you want (within reason). I've seen this twice
where I've been able to source my own stuff, or my mechanic has been able to.

im not going through the insurance for this since it is not a major scratch, the guy basically just said if i found the price/ estimate for the piece that he would write the check.
is this a problem...should i have gone through the insurance?? =/

Default BTDT. I made a few hundred bucks when my S4 got rear ended. Got my AWE Twin II on sale, whereas
they reimbursed for the full cost of what my UUC VM3 cost years ago. Stainless steel exhaust = no "betterment" bull****.

Default I guess the moto is to go screw the world as long as you get yours.
And you know that "other" guy is going to complain when you bring him an estimate for a ridiculous amount much higher then he anticipated. Get ready for that can of worms. Don't forget... to him you drive an A4. lol hate to say it but most people don't know the difference.

Sorry my advise didn't sit well with you. I guess you shouldn't have asked then if your not ready for answers you didn't expect.
