Default I saw them(stockers) cut up at AWE before you were even a member of Audiworld.

Glad to see you "think" you are reinventing the wheel.

Default also good for the cosworth (mean anything to you?!) rs4 380 hp

where they changed most of the plumbing ..but still left manifolds untouched ..
hey don't forget we're talking cosworth .. LOL .. not that there is ANY type of comparison here ( no room for that).

Default I doubt Cosworth had any say in what type of manifolds to go with. The log style type

is much more cost effective than tubular headers. It's not something that would be cheap to mass produce (in comparison to the log style...they already have the basic design and fabrication process from the S4). To switch to tubular headers would have increased operating costs way more..

Default meh, they "modified" the heads, block, crank, etc so I don't see fabrication cost as a major factor

I just don't think there was that much to be gained at the power levels they were going for, IMO

Default Yep, that's another factor. 380HP doesn't warrant tubular headers...which is the same reasoning

behind these GT kits using tubular headers that are pushing 600+hp. The turbos are very different to K04's, much larger turbine housings and more lag. If lag were an issue with K04's, perhaps Cosworth would have invested in different style headers...but they spool very quick and in stock form isn't producing a massive amount of power.

Default agreed, but I think the original agrument by lemieux was "stock manis are pretty ok imho."

so for the RS4 they changed basically the entire intake; piping, heads, and pistons, rings, etc etc, but they left the exhaust manifolds untouched. I can only assume that they thought they were pretty OK as well.

Now, for this applications, pushing double the RS4 flow, I don't think anyone is really arguing that tubulars are a bad choice AND these do look very nice.

A lot of the B5 crowd has been around a long time, and has seen a lot of products not pan out. I just think many are skeptical these days without seeing some data.

Cant wait to see your project finished.

cheers

Default Totally understand. There are quite a few that are going to be running this kit so we should

see lots of results.
