Default stock s4 maf is 76.33mm, 73 is a common missconception

i have 6 of them laying around, 4 bosch and 2 hitachi. they are all the same.

Default See Mikes comment below.

Area of a circle = r2 x 3.14

73mm = 4183.22 mm2

88mm = 6079.04 mm2

6079.04/4183.22 = 1.45

Assumed offset factor due to MAF sensor calibration at stock MAF housing size.

Default Even in the very center?

Most MAF housings have a slight taper where the element is placed.

Default Where is your sensor positioned in the airflow in the new MAF housing vs. the old MAF housing.

Assuming somewhat laminar flow the velocity of the air varies with distance from the wall of the MAF. If the sensor is measuring too close to the wall of the larger diameter housing it could be reading lower than expected based just on scaling of the area of the housing because it is seeing less air than the center of the housing.
