Default Sound System upgrade

I have a 01 B5 Avant w/ Audi Symphony stereo and would like to upgrade to the Bose system for this car or go aftermarket. Any suggestions?

Default I have all mb quart separates and a phoenix old m25 OLD SKOOL amp for highs mids and a JL 300/2 with

a JL single 12" sealed w3 from JL, it rocks.

youll need to re run all speaker wires to the back of the car or under seats (back of car is better) you can use the stock head unit but you will have to run wires from head unit to back of car as well.

Dont bother goign with the Bose, it's ok but not nearly as good as aftermarket would be.

Default I would go aftermarket...

Without knowing what you plan on upgrading it is hard to recommend anthing. Image Dynamics, MB Quart, JL Audi, Clarion, and Kicker are all companies that I have dealt with in the past and had good luck. Image Dynamics seems to be a popular choice for the speakers and from expereince (IDQs) their subwoofers are great as well.

I am sure others with chime in as well.

Default Re: I would go aftermarket...

The OEM is a double din, I now Pioneer has a full display model but not sure how it fits or how hard it is to install

Default You have a few options regarding your OEM unit...

1) you can still use your OEM unit with aftermarket speakers and amps.

2) you can go to the Double Din, but with my expereince I have never liked them.

3) Search the forum for this, but I am sure someone was able to DIY a surround so you can use a single din cd player.

4) Install the preferred OEM Nav unit

5)....

Default new amps ans speakers sound good but...

For the amp upgrade is this plug and play or a re-wire? Where to get a schematic of this system?
