Ok, just trying to confirm these are normal.

First gear I am in, (1st 2nd, 3rd, whatever) I go WOT at 2500rpm. Start speeding up no problem, right towards 5000rpm, maybe a bit later, I hear a sound. Shift, the sound is a bit louder, and doesnt go away. If I hit the throttle at 5krpm I will not hear it. I believe its the "police siren" sound.. but it doesnt sound exactly like a police siren, and the timing of the sound is a bit different then other people have described.

Shutting off I can sometimes hear a fan like sound doing spindown. I think its the mechanical fan thats in the engine bay. Not the turbos, but just in case figured I would ask.<p>Scot Kight

Siren sound for me is under light throttle at low rpm's. I can increase/decrease the frequency by messing with throttle input. If I get on it a little the sound disappears under the various other engine noises.

as soon as I get off the throttle, the sound is gone. I wonder if I have a bearing going in my turbo.

Anyone in the dc area with the vag tool/program wanna help me monitor my boost?

there are a number of pumps and fans that can come on automatically after shut down for the turbos and engine bay.

My car makes a buzzing noise around 2000rpm in first gear after the initial startup. Kinda sounds like an actuator or some gears churning. What is this?
