yet when I go to fill up, I can only fit about 12 gallons in the car. Is this the standard problem folks are having? I'll get it taken care of at my upcoming 35k service.

Bad fuel gauge sending unit. Pretty common.

Default Bad fuel sender? Should be dealer covered.

Is it reading "full" when you have filled up?

Or maybe somebody filled your tank with cement.

Default It's the Fuel Level Sensor. Easily replace but you need to access the gas tank through the trunk.

do a search for Fuel Level Sender
