Default Speeding ticket on CA-101 :-( questions...

Got a speeding ticket this morning on 101 in Redwood City. I guess I pulled out in front of a cop doing 80+. No radar (V1 didn't pick anything up). Ticket was for 80 in a 65 zone.

Anyone have any idea how much this will cost me? Will traffic school get this off the record before Geico finds out? Thanks,

Default don't know the exact amount, but I can give you a range...

but I've gotten 2 tickets in the last 6 months. The first was on 280 (at the hwy 92 interchange) - got a ticket for 79 in a 65, the fine was $77 plus the traffic school fees (like $30 total). (Yours will probably be a bit more since you're in the 15+ mph over bracket.) The second was in Roseville on 80, got a ticket for 85 in a 65, $123 ticket (sucks though cuz this is a point on my license so my insurance will go up).

If you haven't gone to traffic school in the last 18 mo, you're eligible (as long as there's no reckless driving or anything) to go to school and your insurance never finds out about it. Then, you have to wait 18 mo before you can go back, or else it's a point

Default Questions for you....

DO you have to make a court appearance?

I know in Marin County this would be a court appearance and a 30 day restricted license.

If you do get hit hard contact Gary Kaufman in Marin. He saved three of use for being chased over 7 miles at 120 plus...

instead of having to deal with a 30 day suspended license. We got a $575 fine and traffic school.

Default California sure is an odd state!..

In Virginia, 15 over is no big deal, that occurs at 20 over careless and reckless. The fines are nothing like yours, but there is no way to keep the info from the insurance company.

While you are lucky you can keep it from the insurance company in CA., you have to admit from a global view, they should know when you are a "bad" driver!

Default YES, school wil hide it from your ins. co.

But you can only hide one per 18 months.
