I keep telling my wife when see starts the engine everytime she gets in to let the engine idle for at least a minute or two before she puts it in gear.Also, to do the same thing when shutting down.She thinks I am nuts.I was under the impression that a car with a turbo charged engine that this was normal procedure. Any comments?

Yes, otherwise you could expect early turbo failure.
